| China is one of the mega bio-diversity
countries in the world with global significance,
containing more than 10% of the world’s wildlife
and plant species, and the ecological systems in
China are rich in varieties. However, the bio-diversity
in China is facing the extinction of their wild
habitats, the ecological deterioration and threats
aggravated by human activities. For the reason,
China has taken measures to mainly protect the bio-diversity
through establishment of its nature reserves. At
the end of 1999,China has established 1,146 nature
reserves, which is comprising about 8.8% of the
state land and water. |
